Microsoft Word

Today we start our work on Microsoft Word. The first thing that you will notice is the similarity between Word and preventing. All of the products in Microsoft Office share many features and getting familiar with these similarities will help you with all of the programs.

Word Processors revolutionized the use of personal computers. They remain one of the most popular programs. A short history of word processing can be found at the following sites: http://www.gooddocuments.com/philosophy/wphistory_m.htm and http://inventors.about.com/od/wstartinventions/a/WordStar.htm

In class I showed a couple of features of Word that you did not know before. Your task is to explore MS Word and find ten other features that you did not know. Post the items and a short description in your blogs.
Podcast Project

Now that everyone has presented their chosen podcast, I would like each person to post the link to the podcast and a short description by adding a comment to this post.

Another Day Away.

I sure hope everyone misses me.

The good news is that your test is postponed because I am at a meeting all day. Given the choice, I would rather be there giving you the test. The bad news is, I have some extra stuff for you to learn. All of the material included may be on the test.

You have two tasks today. The first is to make sure your previous work is complete. The interactive story marking and the podcast blogs need to be complete today.

The second is to visit the following sites and explore the tips and tricks for Powerpoint. You need to be familiar with them as some WILL be on the test.

Check out the tips at http://www.pcmag.com/category2/0,1874,2146,00.asp Try out each of the tips under PPT 2000.

Also look at the top ten tips at http://www.123ppt.com/powerpoint-tutorials/index.asp Try each.

Have a great day!

Thursday Work

As you might have noticed, I am not here today. The teacher covering the class will let me know how well everyone worked today. As I am creating the test for Monday tonight, I really want to be thinking about how well behaved everyone was while I was away. (Put the earphones away Mohamed).

During class, you will use the marking sheets handed out yesterday to assess each other's interactive presentations. Remember that you are being marked on your ability to assess other presentations. The presentations are stored in the student share/Case BTT/Story folder.

If anyone's presentation is not there, give them a zero.

Take your time and make sure that you mark the work carefully and fairly. If you do finish, you have probably not spent as much time looking at them as you should. However, you may spend the remainder of the class looking up "podcast" on the Internet. Post your findings in your blogs.

I will be marking blogs tonight. Luthfi, you need to send me an email NOW.

BLOG Homework

As discussed, your blogs are your learning logs and you should be posting to them regularly. By reflecting on what you have done after class is over, you will commit the material to memory and you will also begin to blend in your own ideas which will lead to real learning.

For November, your homework is to post to your BLOGs every day one and day three. You may post more often if you like, but you must make the posts on required days.
Powerpoint Assignments

You have two assignments with powerpoint.

First: Use hyperlinking and action buttons to create an interactive presentation on a topic of your choice. We will take turns using each others presentations later in the week.

Second: Use powerpoint to create a hotlist of websites you regularly visit. Save the file as a webpage. Make sure you save your work in a specifically created directory.
